History

It all started in 1974, at the LKAB Malmberget Mine in northern Sweden. One of the engineers, Mats Haglund a keen photographer, toyed with the idea of a long probe holding a miniature camera that would photograph the actual bending of the probe from the inside. Tests were made, the feasibility of the idea was proved, and a patent applied for.

Fotobor

With help from one of Sweden's high speed photography specialists within the Defence Research Authority and precision manufacturing resources of a Stockholm company, Fotobor saw the light of day. It was an instant success, even though film handling and interpretation took time.

Reflex Maxibor®

But success did not stand in the way of progress. Fotobor was further developed, and in 1990 the successor Reflex Maxibor® was introduced. The mechanical camera was replaced by an electronic imaging device, a robust onboard analyzer and memory was included and a waterproof handheld computer made evaluation of survey data possible directly in the field.

Reflex Maxibor® II

In 2005 Reflex Maxibor® II was introduced, as a result of an extensive electronic and optical re-design. The successful concept remains the same, but Reflex Maxibor® II is a state-of-the-art instrument with considerably improved reliability and lower cost of ownership.

Complete product portfolio

As a complement to the highly advanced optical instrument, a number of electronic solid-state surveying tools were developed to serve the needs of various applications; Reflex EMS, Reflex EZ-Shot, Reflex EZ-AQ, Reflex EZ-AQ/EMS and Reflex EZ-Dip.
